The Luke (in brief)

Tomorrow night, Demond and I will be reviving 18 Plays for this season. We'll do a full run down of the game replete with commentary on the half time show which was at least as entertaining as anything we saw on the field tonight. Because it's a preseason game, and there is only so much to talk about, forgive for leaving some bullets in my gun until tomorrow.

I didn't see the idea about a full on photo blog until I got home tonight, but it's a good one. We'll try to get one done after Thursday game.

For now, I'll just leave you with these pictures:
This is the view walking into the Luke. The building is impressively huge.

I love the view of the Old Girl with the window open (why does that sound like I'm a stalker?). Someday soon it'll be the skyline. Rest in peace, Hoosier Dome.

Manning was on the field in pregames. You could pick him out by his gigantic forehead. He walked freely with no limp. He didn't seem to be favoring his leg. He did some mock passes and positioning with Caldwell, and seemed to be clowning a bit. Caldwell bumped him and he sort of 'stumbled naturally'. It had no effect on how he walked, and it didn't seem to hurt him at all. Honestly, if you didn't know he was hurt, you wouldn't have figured it out from tonight. I watched him for an hour solid. Now I really do sound like a stalker.

The view of the banner as the roof opened. I'll never get tired of that shot.

The view from our seats. We'll talk more about them on the podcast. We came out pretty ok. Westside Rob...I saw where your seats were. You got jobbed, bro. I'm really sorry. Come by 616 row 8 anytime.

Stalker. Prevert.
Not much else to write about except maybe Saturday's injury, which we won't know anything definitive about for a day or so....

Hey, you guys are in 616 now? I'm in 615 Row 11. I couldn't make it tonight, but I will be there for the Bears game.

We've been trying to stay optomistic about the seats after our initial dissapointment last year. I was holding off judgement until I actually saw a game. Unfortunately I can't really see one from our seats. It's hard to even track the ball from our vantage point. It's amazing how much further from the field we are now. In the Dome we were 50-60' from the field in the luke we are 200+'. The worst part though is losing that center endzone perspective that we had really grown to love. My wife who had just gotten into football really got a good understanding of the game from that vantage point. She now can't follow the game very well as it is just so hard to really see what's going on.

I'm doing my best not to be bitter. I know for most people this place is probably a lot better then the dome (I know the club seats and suites are much better). I know there are like 10-20K people on the season ticket waiting list who would love to have these seats. Even more, I realize there are people who can't afford to eat let alone go to a dumb game so my little "problem" is really pathetic and I should get a life. But, it's just really hard to get excited about going to the game when what you've gotten use to seeing is just no longer visible.

On a positive note I came home to watch what I had missed in the stadium and the view from my couch with the new TV is great. Maybe if you guys are interested I would be willing to "guest live blog" the home games a few times when you guys are actually at the game, as we plan on selling half or more of our games this year.

Life goes on...

Are these your seats?

That's harsh. I feel less bad about catching the Colts at Lambeau this year instead of trying to go to a home game.
