Some People Can't Stand Prosperity

Ed Johnson was busted for pot last night. Smooth buddy. This is a guy who screwed up his first chance at Penn State, cost himself millions due to drugs, and only has a job because Joe Paterno called up the Colts and vouched for him. Now that he has a shot reasonably successful pro career working, he keeps hitting the weed. IDIOT.

He won't play this week. Lovely.

UPDATE: He's been cut. Fun times.

The Manning brothers were named top brothers by ESPN. Damn. I thought we had a chance. Oh wait, they were ranking athletes. Still I was All State (academic, cough cough) in baseball and Demond won the tennis team MVP. That merits some consideration right? No? Frick.

Damn. I didn't know the nature of his "character issues" at PSU, but suppose I'd been waiting for this moment for the last year, dreading it. Hopefully, it's a single poorly-timed offense and a single slap in the face that rights his ship for a few years at least.
I don't expect people to be saintly; just professional.
I'm sure Dungy's "you disappointed me, son" look will be far more effective than mine.

Any chance we can get posters of that made up to hold up at games.

I'd imagine that a stadium full of disappointed Dungy's would scare the bejesus out of any visiting team and motivate our boys.

I'm starting to get that "is this all starting to unravel" feeling. I'm sure it's nothing that a win this Sunday won't cure but could it be that the fate of both NE and Indy are somehow inexplicably linked... that our Yen is diminished by their diminished Yang and vice versa? Maybe it's broader and most of the supposed "Power Teams" of the AFC will crumble this year and the NFC will rise in glory to dominate and crush the AFC like they did in the 80's and early 90's?

Or maybe it's just my own depression talking...maybe I should go hang out with VY and we can be depressed together. Please Colts players and Coaches figure out a way to win this game vs the Vikings...

I think the real reason for my depression is that we aren't hearing as much from JC. I hope Brady's injury doesn't diminish his committment to being the antagonist for this blog? Seriously I looked his last comments was "Brady on IR". If I was Jeff Fischer I'd call the Police to check on JC but that's a low blow...sorry.

Ed should be back next week. Darrell Reid got busted for marijuana possession before last season and nothing happened to him. They are just holding him out while they figure out exactly what happened (and may be hoping to kill any chance Goodell suspends him)

I know how everyone feels. I'm trying to leave the emotion out of it and recognize that a lot of great teams have had rough starts to the season (NYG last year for example). The good news is that most of the Colts' problems should be resolvable in a few weeks.

But it does feel like the stars are crossed right now.

Kevin Faulk got busted for weed at a Lil Wayne concert and Brady got hit on what would have been his down and distance.

I'm curious, did you guys not read the part about him being waived? That means he's cut, right? Gone. No more.

That's an update. It wasn't in the original piece.

Fun times.
