Hard at work

This week will be light on the posts as we scramble to get our preseason articles up by Thursday. Last year's Star Wars Predictions were a big hit, and our preseason visions were dead on (mostly). We'll be posting our 2008 versions soon, as well as celebrating the return of Eyes in the Backfield, in which we help you focus in on 18 things that will define each and every week for the Indianapolis Colts. Eyes will be up every Friday.

As always, don't forget to check out 18to88.com for the kind of articles and regular pieces that don't fit well on a daily blog. We are now archiving the MMTTB Report, and we still have three games available in the Important Wins contest. All submissions can be sent to 18to88@gmail.com.

Jaguar Julie is unintentionally hilarious

When worlds collide: Florio takes on the Jaguars.

Peter King thinks the Jags are going to win the South and that Garrard is an MVP candidate. Hmmm, that'll be tough with no wideouts there Pete.

TMQ has its haiku predictions out.

Demond Sanders: The title of this post should really be Hard at "work", but that's a minor quibble. It is a stretch to say our Bold Visions were mostly dead on for 2007. We whiffed pretty bad on Brady/Moss, Garrard, and JDR. I think the hate clouded our vision.

Jaguar Julie's writeup indicates that: "She goes to as many away games as possible, including as far away as Nashville."

Without getting out my map and ruler, how many NFL teams are closer to Jax than Nashville... maybe 5? So she goes to games at Atlanta, Miami, Tampa... is NOLA closer? Carolina MAYBE...? Where have I missed?

I'm sure she's a great fan and all--hell, I don't have the cojones to diss my family and change my name to Colts Bob (would my fellow Seattlites remotely get it?), mortifying my kids for decades to come. ("Colts Bob and his estranged wife are pleased to announce the wedding of their son, who prefers his name be left off this wedding invitation, to the daughter of...")
So she's a super fan, but trumpeting her willingness to travel to all of 4 other cities to watch her team play is a little insulting. Especially to the fans of other teams who cover the countryside like locusts--Pittsburgh fans come to mind.

Peter King is a veritable genius! All it will take for Jax to surpass Indy (no reasons given other than...) Garrard being the 3rd place vote getter for MVP and a 2nd-round rookie DE winning DROY. As you note, Garrard pulls this off with no WRs--well, I guess he can pass to himself--THAT would be MVP-worthy. Well, that's not asking too much, is it? Stuff like that happens all the time, no?

No mention of the proven producers like this Manning fella, that Sanders guy, or Freeney-something or other. Or their coach who is a proven success and likely HoF coach. I guess they have to sell some sort of bold manufactured controversy (see the comment about Tarvaris Jackson as an asset rather than a liability).

@ funtime42

Great link, I forgot to transfer that bookmark from last year over to my new computer.

I get Pats-KC (eww) and Saints-Bucs (yes), then Cowboys-Browns (eh) and then the Colts for the night game.

Vic Ketchman on the Jags D-line: "If Derrick Harvey is the player the Jaguars expect him to be, everything is fixed."

He also says that Josh Scobee has one of the NFL's "elite" legs.

JJ will be going to ONE road game this year: Week 1 @TENNESSEE. The rest are too far away...

Yeah Vic buddy, but how is he going to be that player when they didn't sign him until two weeks before the season?
