ESPN Power Rankings Passes the test

So I mentioned the "Am I a Smart Analyst Test" last night, and low and behold we have our first 'pass' of the test in awhile. ESPN has the Colts ranked second, but more importantly than the ranking is the reason. They've figured out exactly why all the injury talk is way overblown.

In other news, FO ranks the best QB seasons in the DVOA era. Our boy does pretty well (#1 overall, 4 of the top 8, 6 of the top 20). Yeah, he's pretty good.

Demond Sanders: Humor me for a moment and let me bask in the glory that is Danica. An average racer who, by virtue of having two X chromosomes, is the only known human who can get Indycar precious seconds on Sportscenter and CNN in the same day. Here's the latest international incident featuring the beautiful and talentless Milka Duno:

RE the ESPN bit, who the hell is Paul Kuharsky?
They got NE and Pitt right too--easy schedule and stay healthy for the Pats and Ben R is the one QB, moreso than Brady, who worries me when we face him. I think he can do a lot of damage and he's been improving steadily. Wonder what he'd be like sans that horrible accident.
They neglected to note the Chargers' easy sked too. It's embarrassing that two top teams have the easiest skeds--I blame their divisions, and ours.
Packers at #8? I dunno....
The pissing and moaning for the Chefs being one of the youngest teams holds no water--who has been one of the 3 youngest over the last 5-6 years? The same team that set a record for consecutive 12-win seasons over that time.
Raiders at 27? Somewhere Raiderjoe is both cheering and gnashing his teeth, which is funny to watch, I bet.

Now for the FO QB lists... no big surprises, other than David Garrard's 07 season being top-10. It says either "start of something great" or "regression to the mean" and most people think it's #1 but I know I am not alone thinking #2 is more likely.

Seeing Scott Mitchell in the top-12 DYAR list reminds me of one similarity 2 of those top QBs had: Tom Moore as their OC. Even here, where I am sure he is revered, the man does not get enough credit. Is there a place in Canton for top OCs and DCs? There should be for him.

Kurt Warner not on the 1st list and only one season on the second? I'da thunk he'd have two--his only two, but they were awesome. Or so I thought.

Warner faced an insanely easy schedule his first big year. I think that lowered his DVOA and DYAR scores since the D is for...defense adjusted

Ah yes, I forgot. Colts also had a 5th place sked that season--IIRC they were both worst-to-firsts. The only difference is we're still in first. (Man that's harsh, kicking the Rams when they're down. NO reason at all. I feel so... Bostonian. Better take a shower and reassess things.)

See, see, see what I mean?!

Actually, JC, you're a Providencian, no? and just an honorary Bostonian.

According to the Joker's wikipedia page, he once gassed an entire kindergarten class to death.

As Shyne said.....that's gangsta.

Yes Providence Bob. The most mob infested city north of the Bronx.

And I don't talk like they do up there. Totally different accent. Much less ridiculous.

An analyst doing a pre-fantasy draft on ESPN's Sports Center special last night said Tom Brady was flat out the number 1 choice - based on last year's stats so no biggie. The real kicker was his claim that Tony Romo was easily the better choice at the 2 spot. Seriously. Manning at number 3 with no mention of injury to support his claim, but rather his feeling that Peyton was just too inconsistent to waste that pick on.

Never saw the guy before, can't remember his name now (probably the lack of oxygen when my brain short-circuited)...

Wow. The only reason not to pick Manning (or Brady) is if you play in a league with playoffs going through week 17. Neither guy ever has a super meaningful game.

Too inconsistent. Wow.

Agreed.
Totally.
