Let's go camping!

Hey! It's finally here! Our boys are smacking it around again, and camp opens with good news. The picks are almost all in (I told you there was nothing to worry about). Only Santi (a 6th rounder is unsigned). I heard rumors he was hurt, so the Colts may not sign him until he's healthy just so they can use the roster spot. Meanwhile, the Star leads off today with the promise that Dwight Freeney will be healthy enough to start week 1. I've said it over and over again, this is the one issue that really matters.

I wish I was going to get down to camp, but a business trip to Germany for 9 days starting next week makes that a little dicey. It still might happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

LINKS: We've known for awhile that Mike Floria is a tool. This post pretty much proves it. It's possibly the dumbest thing anyone has ever said. The Colts sign Quinn Grey and that means Peyton Manning is hurt really bad. Wow.

ESPN statistically (sort of) ranked the prestige of NCAA basketball programs since 1984. IU comes in at #13. I feel sick.

FO lists the best RB performances since 1995. Three different Colts make the list. We really have been blessed with an almost unbroken run of amazing RB play going back to the late 80s.

If it'll be of any assistance, weather permitting, I'll be going to Colts' camp this coming Saturday, and can send a report.

I would love a report, Sarah. Write one up, and we'll post it.

Any chances we have to use the nick-names Pillsbury Throw-boy and J-Load are always welcome. I understand that Archie and Olivia Manning moved earlier this week to a house that's just one block from a Krispy Kreme--coincidence? Not likely. There's a 5th bedroom in the house so apparently they're planning on replacing Peyton with cannon fodder as well. (presumably Gray and Lorentzen will have to bunk there together during the bye week.)

One of the commenters hit the nail on the head regarding this: they need QBs to take reps during camp--Sorgi with the 1st team and somebody who can fog up a mirror with the 2nd and scout teams. Enter Gray and tubby. No big scandal here, folks, move along. Oy.

in addition (via wikipedia) Quarter(got)back, The Hefty Lefty, The Round Mound of Touchdown, The Abominable Throwman, BBQ (Big Beautiful Quarterback), Battleship Lorenzen, Butterball, The lord of the Ring-Dings, "Mobile, Agile, Hostile and Hungry" and He Ate Me

Shake,
Thank you so much. I'd only heard (and since forgotten) a couple of them, like Hefty Lefty. That list will keep me laughing for a couple of days. He Ate Me. In ten years, who the hell will even get that joke? Like 150 people nationwide?

Yeah I posted a poll for favorite nickname on Stampede Blue. We have to have our fun before his time on the team is up.

Anyone else notice the comment on Phil B's Indystar blog about Ugoh.

"I'll be curious to see if Tony Ugoh is pushed, since there are some out there in the media who have suggested Ugoh isn't the answer at left tackle."

Who the heck in the media is claiming Ugoh isn't the answer? When he was in there he was terrific. I realize that the Colts are a part-time job for Phil at the Star but does this guy bother to read much of anything actually out there?

Yeah, that is totally out of left field.

I'd be shocked if there was a lineman on the team who could make a realistic push for his job.

I saw that too, late last night. I realize that he missed blocking Sean Merriman at the end of the Chargers game last year, but that was his only real slip up.

It must be Kravitz. He's the only one dumb enough to say something like that.
