The most insane rumor is currently running around MLB sites. It has the Reds dealing Adam Dunn (who now is tied for the NL lead in HRs), for Oakland closer Huston Street. This deal makes absolutely no sense. Dunn is due to walk at the end of this year. The Reds SHOULD resign him, but apparently Cincy fans are too stupid and want to run him out of town. Even so, Dunn will yield two top picks if signed by another club. He is insanely valuable both as a player and as a token.
Huston Street is an arbitration eligible closer. He will never be more overvalued than he is right now. Surely...SURELY this can't possibly true.
Walt Jockety should be shot if he makes this deal.

Well your manager says the main advantage of a guy with good OBP is that he puts the pitcher in the stretch when he gets on (as opposed to not making an out or being eligible to score) so there isn't a level of stupidity from the Reds management that would shock me.
Yield two top picks?
How?

Free agent compensation. If free agent is in the top 30% of his position he's a class A free agent. If the team doesn't re-sign them the players original team gets the first round pick from the team that did sign him and one in the compensatory round between the 1st and 2nd.

Pollak and Tamme signed.
I love the Jocketty/Baker era in Cincy. Awesome.
I swear this might well do me in. I invest more time per season in the Reds than the Colts by far. I can't freaking deal with morons who would even CONSIDER this deal running my club. I can only pray it's a vicious slanderous rumor.
Only Wheeler and Santi unsigned and Santi's hurt so a short holdout would mean nothing.
