Anyone want a scholarship to play at IU? Enduring all the transfers was really no big deal, but now that Jordan Crawford is leaving as well, I have to say that I'm a tad despondent. He's a serious talent, and I was holding out hope that he could improve enough to help the Hoosiers hang around .500. Now apparently anyone with a pair of Chuck Taylors can make the squad.

Simmons mentions the 4 point play as one of the fishiest moments in NBA history. That's a mild understatement. I don't get how the NBA gets away with this crap. People can rip Tim Donaghy for being a felon, but when you look at tapes and stats from those games it's almost impossible to doubt him. Also in this piece, the Sports Guy's line about Vince Carter made me laugh out loud. I still can't believe I've been reduced to rooting for Boston. I figure in the seedy underbelly of sports that is the NBA, Boston fans are generally positive about the Pacers because of Larry Legend, so I can be gracious as well.

Now that Simmons has been humbled by the Pats SB loss he's back to being one of my favorite writers. I loved listening to him talk to another Pats fan friend on his podcast about how crushing the loss was, he deserved it after how unbearable insufferable he got during the 18-0 run. I had to stop reading/listening to him for a while.
That was a great podcast. It made my week last week.
Aaron Harang sucks again.
Took only a year longer than it should have.
JC
when did he ever suck before now?
If "sucks" is defined as 20% worse than the average MLB pitcher he sucked in 2003. ERA+ of 80.
Ah yes. Five years ago, as second year starter he sucked. You're right. He was due for another awful season.
thanks I'm always happy to make a Pats fan look like an ass.
What, no SEE Cubs fans post about Soriano breaking his hand?
I didn't predict it, so I'm not going to harp on it. When Dempster implodes or Wood's arm falls off...then you'll get a "See?!!"
OK lemme clarify.
From a fantasy perspective, he's had two seasons in which he deserved a roster spot. All the rest, including this season, he's sucked.
In 2005 MAYBE he'd be a "two start pickup" but if you were in a rotis league, His gross ERA, WHIP and team offense would make you think twice.
From an MLB perspective he'd be equatable to Bronson Arroyo, who I know from first hand experience, blows.
Arroyo has a .378 BABIP. Buy low he's getting very very unlucky or has absolutely awful D behind him and is just pretty unlucky.
Re:Soriano
It sucks but it could be worse. It could have been Aramis, Soto or DeRosa who are all putting up huge numbers especially for their position.
Maybe they'll actually play the above average hitter who plays good OF defense who the Cubs have locked away in AAA Iowa, Matt Murton. He's not Soriano, but a career OPS of .814 isn't bad.
We have 26 active, 4 bench and 6 minors with a 300 cap.
Arroyo is currently unowned in our league.
If anyone wanted his gross ERA and WHIP they could claim him as a $5 free agent.
And I didn't realize we got to bitch slap the Reds this weekend.
That outta be boring.
Last thing on Soriano
I'll miss one of my favorite parts of watching Cubs games, seeing a 6'1" 160lb man swing one of the biggest bats in the majors. You want to know why he has no place discipline? It's because he's physically incapable of checking his swing.
I heart Jim Edmonds on the Cubs.
Yeah, I had a moment of insanity when Corey Patterson hit a GW HR too.
I've seen Corey Patterson. Edmonds is not Corey Patterson bad. Edmonds' batting average with the Cubs is higher than Patterson's OBP with the Reds.
Edmonds will be an adequate CF for the year.
by 25 points
Hee hee. Now that's optimism. Edmonds is below average defensively now. He's had a couple of weeks, but he'll be in the .210s within 5 weeks.
I mean with the Cubs.
He's already there for the year right now.
He's old. He sucks.
Tying HR and walkoff HBP
BP and baseball reference have him as about average in center so far this year. A bit above with the Padres a bit below with the Cubs.
As long as stays above Felix Pie's 49 OPS+ everything is great.
u guys have to do an 88 reasons why we love Bob Sanders this year!!
