They really do matter...

I realize that telling Colts fans how important the undrafted free agents are is a bit obvious, but just in case anyone out there doubts it, check out this list from SI of the best pickups of the last decade or so (you can go back to see AV's picture with the Pats). I started you in the middle of the list for reasons that will be obvious when you see the picture. Also, check out this article about what the guys who don't get picked go through.

Mike Chappell also had a great piece on Marcus Howard. Mathis was also a 5th rounder, so this is an exciting pick. You have to figure that with his speed, Howard will be a good special teams player if nothing else (that's actually how Mathis made the Pro Bowl). In fact, I have a sneaky suspicion this kid will end up being better than at least one of the Jags first two picks.

FO has their annual draft poll out.

Here's one more draft evaluation I didn't see earlier. (fixed)

I can't wait for the season to start.

This doesn't have much to do with football, but I thought you might enjoy knowing that sportsmanship is not a thing of the past:

DZ,
The last two links are the same. Thanks for all your continued hard work.

funtime42,
Interesting article. So long as we're rehashing interesting non-FB articles from Seattle papers, here's a link to an interesting article on pitch counts for teenage pitchers. It starts off with a very specific, and pretty sad case, of a kid who pitched a monster 140 pitch game at age 16 or 17, and never threw again. Then gets into pitch counts for kids of all ages. I had no idea Little League had age-mandated counts.

Oh, yeah, that was a great article. I forwarded it to a friend of mine who runs a baseball camp (informal for kids who are new to the sport) and he says he's going with their recommendations for their youth league.

Rob Dibble is pretty vocal about this issue as well. And now I have made a comment that's vaguely related to the blog since the kind hosts are Reds fans, right?

Baseball is always welcome in any form and should NEVER be apologized for.

This is a Colts blog first, but baseball is king.
