Fare thee well Bryan Fletcher

With conflicting reports still coming out about the Harrison saga (did anyone note how ESPN's coverage of the story changed as the night went along?) let's instead focus on stories we can verify. Bryan Fletcher and Dylan Gandy were cut yesterday. Fletcher had several key plays in the 2006 season, and perhaps caught the biggest pass of the AFC Championship game. He only had one grab that day, but it was for 32 yards to set the Colts up inside the Pats 50 with 2:01 to play. I'll never forget Ted Marchibroda semi-coherently trying to say, "There's a linebacker on him and it's a mismatch in favor of the tight end!" Fletcher was slight of build and never could figure out the blocking side of the game. As for Dylan Gandy, he couldn't beat out Charlie Johnson, so that should tell you something. Both players had to be nervous when the Colts brought in 3 new O linemen and two TEs.

Demond Sanders: The three-day Rookie camp just began on Friday, but the Colts must have already seen what they were looking for from the new guys.

In other news, Dale Earnhardt Jr. proves that underneath that firesuit beats the
heart of a little girl. I'm guessing Junior couldn't handle 220 mph. . .

So, Jacob Tamme is a starter, then. Interesting.

Good luck to Bryan Fletcher, I liked the guy.

I didn't think Fletcher was making the roster, but Gandy being cut surprised me. I would have given him the best odds of being the starting RG week one.

I'm hoping for a starting lineup of, Marvin, Wayne, Addai, Clark and Gonzo. If Santi can step up to Ben Utecht's level right away he could start, but I don't think they can keep Gonzalez off the field after how he played last season.

A little surprised by the cuts--figured they'd come in August if at all, but I guess they're satisfied with the new guys. Also, cutting $2M in salary and replacing it with $500K..... so long as there is no fall-off in production.

Regarding Harrison, if you go to the Philly daily news website, there's a bit more with a much more biased tabloid-style focus. (i.e. "hometown boy done good, then turned bad... news at eleven!"

The one new item I gleaned is that only six of the seven casings they found match Marvin's gun. THAT could be huge--if someone else fired, particularly first, we're looking at a very different situation. Why did the victim lie to the cops at first and say he was on the highway when shot, then came around to something closer to the real story? Why won't he ID his assailant? Weird shit.

RE: Gandy. I think they figured that if he was behind Charlie Johnson on the depth chart already, there was no reason to keep him. Charlie is already sliding to #2 now that rookies are coming in.

Re: Harrison. The oddest thing about all this is that it happened on Tuesday and broke on Friday. There's a lot of people not talking. The whole thing is really weird. The two people shooting thing is huge. The one guy did 10 years for homicide, so it's pretty easy to justify the use of a fire arm if shot at by a felon. Still, I'm trying to just wait and let it all come out.

So felon and Marvin get into it inside the bar. Marvin beats on him until he runs out to his car. Marvin follows, felon grabs gun from his car and fires. Marvin pulls out the .50 cal hand cannon and returns fire.

Is it bad that that's one of the better (for Marvin/Colts/Us) scenarios?

If Marvin shot in self-defense I would be the first one to give him a high-five. That's the only way I can see him involved, but then again, his agent says he was not involved at all. So I guess we'll see...Now I get to go out tonight to my wife's bar and hear about this from all the retard Cowboy fans(I wish I was back in Indiana)...

Heart of a little girl?!? There were girls racing IndyCars before Junior was born!

Extortion? Machismo? Likes the attention? Maybe he knows the shooter a) isn't Marvin, and b) will retaliate if he snitches.

In fairness he did say 'little' girl...

As for why the first 'victim' lied to the cops, maybe it's because he's a convicted homicide felon who got into a fist/gun fight. Those guys don't usually specialize in truth.
