Mock Draft 2008 - AKA "Who the hell is Deshawn Zombie?"

Alright, we just couldn't let the biggest offseason week of the year go by without throwing our two cents in. Yes, I still hate the draft. No, I don't think it's vaguely possibly to have the slightest idea who the Colts will take in round two, but as a blogger it's my solemn responsibility to comment blindly on things that are impossible to know and of only passing interest to the rest of the world. And so, in honor of that sacred trust, Demond and I offer up our best advice for all the teams drafting in the first round this year.

UPDATE: As of 3 pm EST today, we've exceeded our bandwith for 18to88.com. No telling when the site will be back online.

Also, can we get a collective sigh of relief over the headline from today's Star? Freeney is guaranteeing to play opening day, but hearing that he's only just now jogging does freak me out a bit. There is no issue that will affect the success or failure of the 2008 Colts as much as Dwight Freeney's health. Almost nothing else matters.

Check out this weird bit from CNN.com. I especially like any piece that mentions Tom Coverdale and politics at the same time.

I forgot to mention this earlier in the week, but now you can all see why we are waiting to induct Marcus Pollard into the Classic Colts. I'm not surprised the Patriots signed him, they've had their mitts all over him for a long time. We always wish Pollard the best, but now...ugh.

Kelvin Sampson is landing on his feet. This is a good move for him. He clearly needed out of the college game with its pesky rules and accountability.

Wow, the preponderance of incorrectly spelled names in that mock draft is amazing. And that's in addition to not knowing who "Tank Williams" or "Cadillac Wilson" are.

Yeah...it's a long story. Most of them have been corrected. This is what you get when you try and type at 6 am. I blame Demond for not getting me his entries in earlier. The worst was misspelling Hillary.

And don't mock Tank Williams and Cadillac Wilson. They are high on Matt Millen's draft board.

LOL, Joel.

I can laugh because I know deep down inside that those errors are all on DZ's portions.

I can't wait to see who drafts Darren McFarland on Saturday.

hey DZ and DS...

I sent in a link to your mock draft to SI.com's Hot Clicks and they linked to it. So, You may get a lot of hits on your mockery. And maybe some more followers!

The names are priceless. Almost like the Emmitt Smith mock draft.

Regarding Marcus Pollard in Foxboro... this is bad, but part of life in the NFL. Let's see, my wife sleeping with my father, my sons joining a cult, the Colts drafting Barry Bonds in round 2, total nuke-you-ler anhilation.... Yep, could be worse.

oops...hope I didn't kill your site with the "hot clicks" link submission. Just tried to look at it again and got this message..."The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later."

Don't apologize. Thanks for the help!

I feel like I've done more harm than good. I tried.

Maybe people will check back later.

You think that's bad. The one NFL player that graduated from my high school and who played in the first football game I ever saw in person spent a year on the Patriots. It was weird. This memory sticks out.

He went in as a 3rd/4th WR near the goal line and I was yelling "TD to Dwight,! TD to Dwight!" He went out after an incomplete pass to someone else and I went back to yelling "Throw a Pick! Throw a Pick!"

Was it Tim Dwight? That dude was/is freaking fast. . .

Yeah. He's been all over the league. Kick return for a TD for the Falcons in the superbowl. Traded as part of the Vick-Tomlinson draft day deal. Been with the Jets, Pats and Raiders since then. He's been real fun to watch. He's never been able to stay healthy, but he's a real nice guy and the only NFL player I've met in person.

And really, really fast.

Ugh, Tim Dwight.

I can't believe the NCAA let him run track after his first season with the Falcons.

Dwight probably just ran so fast the NCAA didn't notice that he was there.
